There are many different methods of teeth whitening, although veneers are generally considered to be the most effective treatment. To have whitening veneers first a cosmetic dentist will file the surface of the tooth away slightly to give the veneer something to adhere to. The special whitening veneers will then be fitted using type of glue. This procedure is quite expensive however and many other cosmetic dentists will offer specialist teeth bleaching as an alternative whitening method to the veneers.

Many people who have suffered some sort of injury to their teeth as a result of an accident, or simply have crooked teeth that they'd like adjusting will turn to a cosmetic dentist who will be able to give their teeth a more uniformed and natural appearance.

Sometimes this will require teeth to be removed, particularly if they've grown extremely crooked and in many cases caps can be fitted to broken or damaged teeth to restore them to their former state. Many of the procedures that are available from a cosmetic dentist can be performed by a standard dentist, however most of the purely cosmetic treatments are not available on the NHS which cause people who want them to seek the help of a cosmetic dentist.
